This is How I Step on the Road to Bankruptcy
Media, Technology
House is a jerk. But as old wisdom suggests we all like bad guys when you are seeking entertainment, like having a date.
The stories goes like this: I was so bored that I took out my iphone and browsed through the infamous but juicy Golden forum while I was taking a bus tonight, a thread read “House fans pls come and discuss” caught my eyes. I was expecting some trash talk like “Doctor Cameron is so sexy, I wish to do a CT scan on her with my bare eyes” or so, but it happened someone was recommending a book about House, “House and Philosophy: Everybody Lies”. Philosophy, so intellectual!!!
I couldn’t help myself but took out my gadget number2, the Kindle, and looked for the title. I immediately reached the description page and read:
Is House a master of Eastern philosophy or just plain rude? Dr. Gregory House is arguably the most complex and challenging antihero in the history of television, but is there more to this self-important genius than gray matter and ego? This book takes a deeper look at House to reveal the philosophical underpinnings of this popular medical drama and its cane-waving curmudgeon’s most outrageous behavior.
The whole TV series is about House’s philosophy and the book is about to go deep into that. I bet any House fans would be very much interested in the book, so do I. And therefore I downloaded the sample e-book in 10 seconds and started reading. The first chapter is about how Dr House sees god. A few lines from House are quoted as an appetitizer:
“If you talk to god, you’re religious; if god talks to you, you’re psychotic.”
I am prepared to “review” many more of those golden lines…and so I guess I am going to buy the whole e-book at a cost of around HKD$100. In old times I would never do that. It is all about iPhone and Kindle that push me with loads of information which tempt me to spend my money! I must say, these gadgets are so good to create new demands, one more thing, I want to buy Apple and Amazon’s shares.
