House is a jerk. But as old wis­dom sug­gests we all like bad guys when you are seek­ing enter­tain­ment, like hav­ing a date.

The sto­ries goes like this: I was so bored that I took out my iphone and browsed through the infa­mous but juicy Golden forum while I was tak­ing a bus tonight, a thread read “House fans pls come and dis­cuss” caught my eyes. I was expect­ing some trash talk like “Doc­tor Cameron is so sexy, I wish to do a CT scan on her with my bare eyes” or so, but it hap­pened some­one was rec­om­mend­ing a  book about House, “House and Phi­los­o­phy: Every­body Lies”. Phi­los­o­phy, so intellectual!!!

I couldn’t help myself but took out my gad­get number2, the Kin­dle, and looked for the title. I imme­di­ately reached the descrip­tion page and read:

Is House a mas­ter of East­ern phi­los­o­phy or just plain rude? Dr. Gre­gory House is arguably the most com­plex and chal­leng­ing anti­hero in the his­tory of tele­vi­sion, but is there more to this self-important genius than gray mat­ter and ego? This book takes a deeper look at House to reveal the philo­soph­i­cal under­pin­nings of this pop­u­lar med­ical drama and its cane-waving curmudgeon’s most out­ra­geous behavior.

The whole TV series is about House’s phi­los­o­phy and the book is about to go deep into that. I bet any House fans would be very much inter­ested in the book, so do I. And there­fore I down­loaded the sam­ple e-book in 10 sec­onds and started read­ing. The first chap­ter is about how Dr House sees god. A few lines from House are quoted as an appetitizer:

“If you talk to god, you’re reli­gious; if god talks to you, you’re psychotic.”

I am pre­pared to “review” many more of those golden lines…and so I guess I am going to buy the whole e-book at a cost of around HKD$100. In old times I would never do that. It is all about iPhone and Kin­dle that push me with loads of infor­ma­tion which tempt me to spend my money! I must say, these  gad­gets are so good to cre­ate new demands, one more thing, I want to buy Apple and Amazon’s shares.
